Just Bought a New Car? What to Do in the First Month to Keep It That Way
5 min read · Detailing Bureau, Philadelphia
A new car is the easiest car to keep perfect — and the first month sets the tone. Here is what's worth doing early and what dealer add-ons you can safely skip.
Look closely at your delivery
Dealer lot washes are quick, and it's common to find fine swirls on darker paint under direct sun or a phone flashlight. If you see them, light paint correction before protection locks them in is the right order.
Protect before winter
Philadelphia winters bring brine and salt. Getting a sealant or ceramic coating on before the first salt truck goes out makes every wash after that easier and safer for the paint.
Habits that keep it new
- Skip brush tunnel washes — use touchless or a proper hand wash
- Add all-weather floor mats before the first snow
- Book a full detail after salt season to clear the underside and carpets
Book it, or just ask
No deposit. We place an authorization hold on your card at booking and charge it only after the detail is finished and you've inspected it. Reschedule free by text up to 12 hours before.
Frequently asked
Is the dealer's paint protection package the same as ceramic coating?
Not always. Ask what product is applied and how the paint is prepared first — the prep makes most of the difference.
How soon can a new car be coated?
Right away. New paint is fully cured by the time you take delivery.
