Getting Dog Hair Out of Your Car for Good: A Philadelphia Detailer's Guide

5 min read · Detailing Bureau, Philadelphia

Pet hair is the single most common reason people book an interior detail with us. The good news: it is fully fixable. The less-good news: a regular vacuum was never going to do it on its own.

Why vacuums leave hair behind

Short, coarse coats — labs, pit mixes, huskies in shedding season — work into carpet fibers like tiny needles. Suction alone lifts the loose hair on top and leaves the woven-in layer.

What we do instead

Removing it properly is a few steps, done in order:

  • Rubber and specialty pet-hair tools to pull woven hair up from carpet and cloth
  • Compressed air into seams, rails and under seats
  • Thorough vacuum once the hair is loosened
  • Steam and extraction to lift dander, drool and the smell that goes with it

Keeping it under control afterward

A washable seat cover or cargo liner does most of the work. A quick rubber-glove wipe of the seats once a week stops hair from settling deep again.

Book it, or just ask

No deposit. We place an authorization hold on your card at booking and charge it only after the detail is finished and you've inspected it. Reschedule free by text up to 12 hours before.

Frequently asked

Does pet hair cost extra?

Normal pet hair is part of Interior Detailing. If it is extreme, mention it in your booking notes so we plan the time — we'll tell you before starting if anything changes.

Will it get rid of the dog smell too?

In most cases, yes — extraction removes the dander and residue that cause the smell rather than covering it up.
